It’s finally here. Super Bowl 51. I don’t know what’s more impressive. The Thread has stuck with me contributing articles and to this Annual Wayniac Nation Super Bowl Prediction Special! — my favorite piece of the year — or that their beloved Atlanta Falcons are finally back in the big game.
Look, we all know where The Thread allegiances stand by now. But that doesn’t mean it’s as easy a pick as you think.
As always, I’ll let them do the talking.
Two teams left. One is a Super Bowl stalwart, making their seventh trip to the big game this millennium. The other? Not many expected the Atlanta Falcons to be there. But they are, making their first trip since the 1998 season.
So how does the Top 12 look this week?

THE 2017 NFL MVP RACE

As a Falcons fan, this season has been a pleasant surprise. The Falcons have surpassed my optimistic expectations, and the biggest reason why is the MVP-level play of their quarterback, Matt Ryan. For me he should be the clear cut winner of this year’s award, and the stats back it up.
The 2015 Atlanta Falcons should have been a precautionary tale. They started the season 5-0 and Falcons fans were speaking about a Super Bowl run. They were yelling as the always do (and quite honestly, rightfully so) that no one loves the Falcons and they weren’t getting any national attention. They thought that this was finally the year. Predicting wins and losses for your favorite team in April is a little premature…but who cares. The draft is coming up in a little more than a week. Offseason workouts started just a few days ago and the first OTAs start in May. The 2016 NFL season is upon us!

I am excited to share this piece today, Wayniacs. Most of you recognize Nomi the Greek from The Thread’s annual Super Bowl prediction special. Today, he makes his debut with his first piece for Wayniac Nation.
You may also recognize Nomi the Greek as one of the only Falcon fans from start to finish of every home game, and the many TV appearances he’s made while he traveled to away games. I have yet to meet a bigger Falcons fan (with Saucy T 1B to Nomi’s 1A), and that’s why I thought it was perfect that he share our next Super Bowl memory.

It’s been pretty bad the past two months if you are a Falcons fan. As a lifelong Houston Texans fan, I know a thing or two about bad football, and what the Falcons are playing is worse than that. Yesterday defined not just a new low of 2015, but quite possibly the entire Matt Ryan era. So what they heck is wrong with these guys?
