Man, that got scary Yankees fans. Leave it to the old Boston Red Sox to try and salvage their disappointing season by ruining ours. I don’t care how good or bad either team is, this rivalry to me is still the greatest.
The WN Fantasy Football Report: Week 4 starts and sits
Last week was a fantasy football… well, fantasy: high octane action and tons of points. My Fighting Blue Hose had four players combine to score more points than EIGHT other teams in my league. When Rishad Matthews is dropping 30 points, it is a great week.
Not every week is going to be like that, however, and with byes starting and this crazy run of injuries to big time players, it only gets harder. Especially when the leagues best QB and TE are on a bye as well as an RB by committee in New England that does nothing but score TDs.
How’d we do last week? Several of my experts said that Donte Moncrief should be your start of the week, and he performed well, returning to the end zone and clearly establishing himself as Andrew Luck‘s number two weapon. If you listened to Fee and started Tyrod Taylor, you wound up in great shape, as he is becoming one of the more exciting fantasy QBs in the league.
Speaking of Fee, he also told you to sit Megatron and Golden Tate, as well as the Eagles, which aside from a breakout performance by Ryan Mathews, were pretty solid picks. Some of the experts lucked out as their sits of the week Drew Brees and DeMarco Murray didn’t even see the field.
Yours truly crushed it. Nearly 30 % of fantasy footballers are still starting Colin Kaepernick and I told you not to be fooled coming off of a huge week in garbage time against a soft Pittsburgh defense. He didn’t even throw for 100 yards, but he did throw two TDs… to the Cardinals defense. Cam Newton came through as my start of the week in a big way, as did my other starts of the week Le’Veon Bell and Amari Cooper. I did miss and tell you to sit Jason Witten, which proved to me that no matter how hurt this guy is you start him. He’s that good.

What the Pittsburgh Pirates started a few seasons back, the Chicago Cubs and Houston Astros have completed this season. It seems that what everybody grew tired of in baseball — you know, the same four or five teams in the post season EVERY year — is coming to an end. And it’s awesome.

The WN Fantasy Football Report: Week 3 Starts and Sits
Last week was a wacky one in football. Jameis Winston and the Bucs pulled off a huge upset in The Benz, while Andrew Luck couldn’t find his way off of Revis Island. Both those events brought my Beat the Pooch Survivor Pool from 76 people to SIX. Fantasy was even harder to project.
JD did yet another fantastic job. He told you to start Terrance Williams who walked away with 18 points and to bench LeSean McCoy, whose 13 points are not acceptable for a first round RB1.
Teddy Ballgame must have been engulfed with his toddler, because his Johnson and Johnson picks were spot on, telling you that David Johnson was a good flex play and that Andre and Chris Johnson should remain on your bench.
My sit of the week, DeMarco Murray, couldn’t have been any worse, and despite finding the end zone, it still only gave Pierre Garcon 14 points, a number that two dozen WRs beat last week. My benching of the entire Broncos TE situation proved correct as well, as all three TE options combined for a mere 12 points. I did unfortunately tell you to bench the Jets defense, but who saw that coming?
Jarvis Landry and Greg Olsen were quality starts, but Drew Brees was a bust. I don’t think anyone expected what happened Sunday in NOLA so I get a pass. Saucy T nailed his Carson Palmer start, but did advise you to bench Tom Brady, which I did. Luckily, I had Ryan Tannehill and was still able to walk away victorious.
We are a few experts short this week, but that doesn’t mean we won’t bring you the same top notch advice. Who is in the Wayniac Nation’s crystal ball this week?
The new age of fantasy football in this morning’s Random Thoughts
Let me start by saying this. When it comes to the NBA and MLB, daily fantasy leagues on Draft Kings or FanDuel are the greatest thing since sliced bread. These geniuses have taken the long seasons of baseball and basketball that fantasy mainstays have endured for years, and made it possible for you to win on a nightly basis. It’s brilliant. You don’t lose interest, because instead of racking up points for an end result five months down the road, you have to be on your A-game every night of the week. It is highly addictive and so much fun that I am pondering leaving my fantasy MLB and NBA leagues entirely, and focusing on daily leagues in the future.
I am torn, however, in the weekly fantasy league experience for the NFL. I can’t tell if it is for me or not. I think it is a fantastic concept, but like many old foggies, I am a traditionalist and am having trouble adjusting to the new way of life in fantasy football.
