The NFL M(atty Ice)VP: time for the Atlanta Falcons to get some love

(For the second time this season, our fantasy guru better known as Saucy T has left his confines of fantasy football analysis to drop some quarterback knowledge on us. Last time, we argued if the Cowboys should stick with Dak or turn the keys to the car over to Romo. This time, he looks at the three-horse MVP race consisting of three quarterbacks.

I specifically asked Tim to write this piece as a Falcons fan. To see the debate through a Falcons fans eyes really presses the issue, because the numbers speak for themselves. So without further ado…)

THE 2017 NFL MVP RACE

Tim Mason | Fantasy Football/ NFL analyst

As a Falcons fan, this season has been a pleasant surprise. The Falcons have surpassed my optimistic expectations, and the biggest reason why is the MVP-level play of their quarterback, Matt Ryan. For me he should be the clear cut winner of this year’s award, and the stats back it up.

NFL SUNDAYS WITH SBJ: THE SEARCH FOR MY HOME TEAM – PART XII

To this day, my brother loves to make fun of me for having chosen my favorite team based on a helmet logo, when I started rooting for the Buffalo Bills in 1989. We also had an extremely heated debate during one Christmas where he felt my Eagles fandom credentials should be revoked because when asked who would I root for in a Bills versus Eagles Super Bowl, I said the Bills. That exchange happened during a drunken night out almost ten years ago and was close to coming to blows.

Onward, for the conclusion of SBJ’s epic journey.

NFL RUNDOWN WITH SBJ: THE SEARCH FOR MY HOME TEAM – PART XI

Mandeville, LA 1984 – Still rockin’ the fields in my favorite #3 inspired by Texas Ranger first baseman Pete O’Brien.

So, I guess you’re all wondering: “What the hell does any of this have to do with your favorite sports franchise, and where are we at this point with regards to that?”

Great question. Let’s get a breakdown of where we stand with the big four American sports up to the age of eleven, shall we?

The Wayniac Nation NFL Power Rankings: The Dak Attack keeps rolling

It is official. For the first time since the 2003 Super Bowl that saw the Tampa Bay Buccaneers rise victorious over the Oakland Raiders, neither team from the last Super Bowl is returning to the playoffs. That means this January, there will be no dabbing, and Gary Kubiak will be in his rightful place… not on the football field.

Not much has changed in the AFC, but the rise of the Packers has certainly continued to shake up the NFC. The AFC Power Rankings were relatively easy this week with all six teams already locked in for the postseason. The NFC, however, still has some work to be done, with two playoff spots and a division winner still at large.

NFL RUNDOWN WITH SBJ: THE SEARCH FOR MY HOME TEAM – PART X

I’ve spent the last few weeks debating with myself about how in depth I would be willing to go with regards to the level of bullying I experienced in school once we arrived in Pennsylvania. Even as I type this now, I’m doing my best to muster the courage to put what is the crown jewel of my social embarrassment completely out in the digital open like I’ve decided to now do. But I feel I have to do this in order to explain why I was pin-pointed in front of my entire class on that humiliating matchmaker day at recess as someone unworthy of being loved.

The Wayniac Nation NFL Power Rankings: A shakeup in the NFC

The New York Giants and Green Bay Packers are grooving. So much so that they may have changed the landscape of the entire NFC playoff race. The AFC only has one big change… but it is seeing the reigning Super Bowl champions fall out of the top six.

The NFL MVP Race: Let the debate begin

We are entering Week 15 of the NFL season. That is both hard — and sad — to believe, isn’t it? With the New York Giants beating the Dallas Cowboys and tightening up the NFC East and overall playoff picture, we are looking at one of the tightest races for divisions we have seen in a long time.

Which is both exciting and nerve racking.

Which also leads to a big pool of MVP candidates, seemingly larger than usual.

I called upon our guy Dunton who helps with The Wayniac Nation Power Rankings to help break down the NFL MVP race. We got more than a handful of names to throw in the mix.

The Wayniac Nation NFL Power Rankings: NFC up for grabs

I fought Dunton for the past three weeks. He was whole-heartedly convinced that the Oakland Raiders were the best of the AFC. I continuously pled my case that the New England Patriots are the best team in the NFL, and they have no reason to not be in the top slot.

Last week, we finally moved the Raiders into the top spot. And, on cue, they lost a big matchup, becoming the biggest fallers of the week (don’t worry, it wasn’t that far).

NFL SUNDAYS WITH SBJ: STAR LOGOS ALL DAY

I’m keeping this week’s Rundown and Sundays short and sweet. The search for my home team will continue in next weeks Rundown.

I hope you all are picking up some valuable lesson with the 2nd Half action so far. Just because I haven’t been breaking down every matchup with 2nd Half analysis, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be keeping your own tabs on things.

Once the search concludes, then we’ll get back to the numbers, and you won’t have to listen to my lost fandom soul sob story anymore. I do hope you’ve enjoyed the struggle, though. It’s been liberating to put my personal growth as a sports fan and individual completely out in the open like this. Very therapeutic. For someone that can’t afford therapy, this has helped me make sense of a lot about myself, and I thank you for listening.

Now, let’s get to this week’s action. Bottomline, if you don’t have a star on your helmet logo this week, then I’m not takin’ your side.

NFL Power Rankings: Welcome to Raider Nation

The Miami Dolphins are consistent. Every time they do something right, and I go and try to give them credit, they show how awful a football team they truly are. They started a six-game win streak with an impressive win over the Steelers, and then reeled off five in a row against some pretty bad football teams. Dunton and I put them in our Power Rankings as the Honorable Mention and lo and behold, they don’t even show up.

I’m done trying to believe in these guys. You won’t hear any more positive from me on the Phins, I promise.
