By the time we arrived in Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania, I had accepted the fact that being the geographical equivalent of an army brat was my life now. This was the fifth house and fourth time I had to start over in a mere five years, and I was sick of it.
It made me slightly numb to the challenge of having to fit in, to the point that I just didn’t care anymore, because whether I would be accepted or not in this new “home”, we would eventually be on the move somewhere else. So, what was the point? If this move didn’t go well, it wouldn’t matter much, since I’d be doing it all again in a year or two anyway.
It was a beautiful day in Louisiana on the last day of that rocky 4th grade year. I had found a home. School was fun again. I had great friends, with construction site battle scars we’d be laughing about, in countless reunions we’d share over a lifetime of memories. Redi-med was announcing a grand opening of a new location, and calling it the Jared & Ryan Law Emergency Center. Not really. But they probably could of with the bills we paid.
There were some slight changes in this week’s power rankings. A few teams flip-flopped, one team got bounced, and we added the new feature: the honorable mention.
Remember, our Power Rankings break down the best five teams per conference until the playoffs start, in which it becomes a comprehensive NFL Power Rankings.
Who made the cut this week?
The Wishbook wasn’t simply my source for toys and sports apparel, but it was also where I found what I needed for the interior design of my bedroom.
The NFL section had bedsheets, pillow cases, and curtains to match. Although, being that my heart hadn’t settled in a stable environment as of yet over the last four years, I didn’t pick a bedroom theme geared to one franchise. I was technically a free agent, so I picked them all.
When it came to my favorite piece of mail that was delivered annually to our various homes over the years during my childhood, the Sears Wishbook won by a landslide. In fact, it was probably the only thing the mailman ever brought that I actually cared about.
It had it all. Star Wars action figures and action sets. G.I. Joe. Transformers. Everything a kid could ask for. I remember the G.I. Joe Aircraft Carrier was the Holy Grail of toys, which we never did find under the tree on any Christmas morning. But I think its legend as the pinnacle of action sets only lives so strong in my mind to this day, because it was so unattainable. I never even heard of a kid that actually owned it. It was truly the stuff of legend.
Well, last week we took a lot of heat for daring to put the Tennessee Titans into the AFC’s five-slot. It was hard not to behind that electric offense. But lo and behold, it seems we were wrong as they dropped a huge game to the division-rival Indianapolis Colts, giving them the advantage for second place in the AFC South. That being said, the Titans are the only team with a positive point differential in that horrendous division, but still, they should have beat the Colts.

Who made the cut this week?
After writing my plays for Week 11, I also wanted to give my thoughts on the FanDuel/Draft Kings merger. There is a lot of speculation as well as a lot of changes coming, but we can only speak about what we know and what we hope will happen in the future.
As the 4th grade school year began its second semester in January of 1985, I met a girl. Well, we actually never officially met, but she owned my heart. I like to think I had a special place in her’s as well.
Of all the places we lived, I’d say that experience on the outskirts of New Orleans really started to mold my values in terms of cultural tolerance and respect for others outside of one’s own biological make up, in terms of race and creed.
What a great Week 10 it was for me. I had one of my best days in DFS I’ve ever had. With Wayniac Nation on a hiatus last week, I wasn’t able to send out my plays, which it turns out would’ve been fantastic. But we are back this week and hopefully we can duplicate last weeks success.
