NFL RUNDOWN WITH SBJ: I’M GLAD YOU BLEW YOUR COVER

Yeah. That’s right. I emotionally hedged the BEARS -3. What of it?

Look, I’m not an Eagles fan anymore. I’ve retired from that franchise for personal reasons, and I will expand on that exodus in a future post. But if you think I don’t want them to do well after my fandom departure, you are mistaken. I wish them the best. I love you guys. It’s just wasn’t in the cards for me to remain with Gang Green. I have a destiny to catch. Giddy up.

Alright, let’s get right into our first taste of 2nd Half training. Did everyone end up with the correct 2nd Half term for the SNF homework assignment? Let’s see.

The 1st Half winners for this game were VIKINGS +1 and UNDER 21.5. Now let’s take a look at the betting trends for the game.

The OVER/UNDER for this one was 43 points. By halftime, only 17 points had been scored combined between both teams, which means 26 points would have to be scored between the two in the 2nd Half to hit 43 square on the nose. If 27 points or more were scored in the 2nd Half, then the OVER 43 hits. If 25 points or less are scored, then the UNDER 43 is the game winner.

The Game Side for this one was PACKERS -1.5(-105)/VIKINGS +1.5(-115). So, Green Bay trailing by three at the half, means that they would at the very least need to cover a 2nd Half side line of PACKERS -5 to cover the PACKERS -1.5(-105) side action for the game. Got all that? Now, that you’ve looked at the trends and figured out the totals you need to hit the Side and Total Points bets for the game action, let’s analyze the 2nd Half numbers. Ready? You better be.

2nd Half action in football and basketball is my favorite bet of all time. The reason I love 2nd Half action is because you need to decide which way you will be betting within a slim window of merely twenty minutes.

Well, I can in sixty, but twenty minutes is on average the time you need to make your decision by. So, I don’t think we have to be that over dramatic with the sixty seconds demand, John.

Oh, Christ. Alright. Fine. Here goes. 2nd Half action is classic George Costanza Opposite Theory territory. It’s prime impulse buy time for people to either try and hedge a game bet going up in smoke, or to double down on their game action. So, you need to react to these 2nd Half lines with that in mind. Here are the 2nd Half numbers.

Starting from the left, the columns read Game Side/Total Points, 2nd Half Side/Total Points, and the Halftime score.

So, the 2nd Half lines are as follows:

2nd Half SIDE

PACKERS -1.5

VIKINGS +1.5

2nd Half TOTAL POINTS

OVER 21.5(-120)

UNDER 21.5(EVEN)

Again, it’s not sixty…(sigh)…oh, forget it. There’s no talking to him when he gets like this.

Ok, we already stated above that Green Bay needs to outscore Minnesota by five points in the 2nd Half to cover the PACKERS -1.5(-105) for the game, which means they need either one touchdown or two field goals to cover their game spread, and the Pack only need one field goal or a two point safety to cover the 2nd Half PACKERS -1.5. All Green Bay has to do is win the game straight up, and the 2nd Half PACKERS -1.5 will hit with ease. Seems doable, right?

I’M GETTING TO IT! Why are you insisting on it being done in sixty seconds when it’s a twenty….you know what? I’m over it. I don’t even know how you got in here, by the way.

Bottom line, you should have sensed that the 2nd Half PACKERS -1.5 was a total trap immediately…like, in .5 seconds, to be honest.

All the signs were there. First, the public won two of the first three primetime games already, so we knew that The House was taking at least one of these sides this week. Right? Right.

Second, if Vegas ends after Week 2 with a side record of 2-3 at worst, then which side do you think they are going to rake from the public? Probably the one with 78 f-in’ percent on it. Right? Right.

2nd Half VIKINGS +1.5. Cake walk. That PACKERS -1.5 just wasn’t scary enough, which, for our purposes…made it absolutely terrifying.

As for the 2nd Half 21.5, which way did you picture your professor leaning? The OVER 21.5(-120), or the UNDER 21.5(EVEN)? An EVEN UNDER, huh? Some of you sophomores know me too well. Done and done.

See ya later today. 😉
