The WN Fantasy Football Report: Week 10 Start Em and Sit Em

Man, it doesn’t get any easier does it? Monday brought us a new wave of injuries like Big Ben and Dion Lewis while Tuesday crushed a lot of fantasy football team’s dreams when Andrew Luck was presumed to miss the duration of the fantasy football season.

Add into the fray that Julio Jones, Devonta Freeman, Matt Ryan, Philip Rivers, Stevie Johnson, Frank Gore and T.Y. Hilton are on a bye, and you have your hands full in a pivotal week of fantasy football. Don’t worry yourselves about a thing. We’ve done the research for you and have nice pieces for your teams to start, and tricky pieces to avoid.

Week 10 Start Em and Sit Ems

The WN Fantasy Football Report: Holy injuries, Batman!!! UPDATED

Last week was bad for injuries in fantasy football. This week, it didn’t get any better. What is up with these major injuries occurring every week… and to the superstars of the NFL?

I remember when I was a little kid, Ronnie Lott had his finger cut off to keep playing. Steve Atwater would hit people so hard they would lose their uniforms, but they got up and played. I’m not calling today’s NFL players soft — hell, if I took one hit like they do, I would be in a wheel chair for years — but there is definitely something afoul.

Chris Johnson, Carson Palmer, Larry Fitzgerald.

Justin Forsett, Calvin Johnson, Matthew Stafford.

DeAndre Hopkins, Marshawn Lynch, Jimmy Graham.

Matt Forte, Le’Veon Bell, Keenan Allen.

That is just a partial list of fantasy starters who are on the pine due to bye or injury this week. To say we have our hands full getting you the right picks is an understatement.

The WN Fantasy Football Report: Help! My entire team is injured!!!

If you are anything like myself, your entire fantasy football season may seem like it fell off of a cliff. Two weeks ago, I was the number one team in my league with the best record, most points and the scary backfield of Matt Forte and Arian Foster. Now, I am currently heading into this Sunday with Giovani Bernard and Charles Sims as my current backfield. If you didn’t laugh out loud after reading that sentence the first time, go ahead and do it now.

It may look bleak as fantasy starters like Forte, Foster, Steve Smith, Keenan Allen and Le’Veon Bell have hit the IR. But there are pieces out there that can save your season. I’ll spare you the obvious pick up DeAngelo Williams “advice”, and get to some guys that may be on the waiver wire or easily obtainable through trade.

Is there anyone out there to help the injury bug in fantasy football?

The WN Fantasy Football Report: Week 8 Starts and Sits

This is a big week for me in Fantasy Football. Sitting at 6-1 in two of my leagues and being in first or second in points in both, a victory unofficially locks up the last seed playoff spot. It would mean that over the next five weeks, I would only have to worry about one win to guarantee a good playoff spot. You can bet I am focused on the right picks this week.

The WN Fantasy Football Report: Is Rishard Matthews a must start?

I love the fact that people turn to me for fantasy football advice. The ultimate reward is that the same people have kept coming back to me for the better part of three years. Where I once felt a lot of pressure to make sure I got the right people in their lineup, or told them to hold off on a trade that didn’t make sense, I’ve grown confident in my projections. For that, I thank you.

That’s why I try to choose some of the questions that are frequently asked of me in a post. Maybe you, dear reader, are pondering the same thing. Can you go to CBS Sportsline? Sure. NFL.com? Absolutely. They are reliable, to an extent, but they are aimed to the masses, rarely discussing the little guys that can be that ultimate x-factor. I’m just like you. I’m a fantasy geek that has been at this for 18 years, and when I look at a player, I see a number, not an athlete.

This isn’t real football, this is all about numbers. I don’t care about pedigree, I don’t care about wing span or how sick a one-handed catch you can make. All I care about is results.

Is it time to put Rishard Matthews into your lineup for good?

The WN Fantasy Football Report: UPDATED Week 7 Starts and Sits

Big week ahead ladies and gentlemen. Four big teams are on a bye and there are many holes to fill this week in your lineups. First, let me give you the rundown on why you should trust us.

Saucy T was perfect on his picks for the third time this season. QB Andy Dalton‘s 243 yards and three touchdowns surely got you points, no matter what scoring system you play. RB Lamar Miller‘s 113 yards and a TD were certainly helpful while benching WR Antonio Brown (failing to reach 50 yards again) and QB Peyton Manning were both sits that you should have been able to find more points than.

Myself? Not as great as week 5, but I did pretty well. Hopefully you listened and started QB Matthew Stafford because a 405-yard, four TD is good for anyone. I nailed the RB Mark Ingram start predicting a two TD performance, and I also told you that with a new coach that was a former TE, that TE Jordan Cameron would return to the end zone. If you are in a PPR league, WR Jordan Matthews did ok with 11 points, but he certainly should have provided more.

When it came to sits, QB Russell Wilson wasn’t all that impressive behind an 18-point day. I told you not to mess with anyone in the Redskins backfield because I have been seeing so many people starting RB Chris Thompson after one decent outing. They COMBINED for 34 yards rushing and 37 yards receiving. And as I said last week, I had to start him because he was my best option, so I am perfectly happy with the fact that my TE sit of the week in TE Jimmy Graham was wrong. Now let’s see if he can get some consistency.

The Wifeyiac — after trading him to me — told you to sit RB Ameer Abdullah. Not only was she right for fantasy teams, but after yet another fumble, the Detroit Lions benched him as well. These females in fantasy I tell ya… the invasion is upon us!

This week is rough. No Packers, no Broncos, no Bears and no Bengals. That’s easily 20 top fantasy starters right there. So we dug deep for you this week.

Watch out, gents. Fantasy Football is a ladies game now!

My wife is an avid fantasy football nut. I’m not talking about a woman who plays fantasy football. No, her entire Sunday is ruined if her team underperforms.

I have played in fantasy football leagues for close to 20 years, so to say I haven’t played in a league or two with a female in it would be a flat out lie. But today, it is a different game. Not only are there female-only fantasy football leagues, women are winning co-ed leagues with ease. I talk shop with Dan and Loraine — a couple in the same fantasy football league — weekly, and quite honestly, Loraine probably has one of the sicker keeper fantasy teams I have ever seen.

I decided it was time to see what makes these ladies tick, so I sat down with four of the most competitive female fantasy footballers I know in today’s random thoughts.

The WN Fantasy Football Report: Week 6 Starts and Sits

Let me tell you a little something about The Wayniac and fantasy football. For every genius play I pull, somewhere down the line I am still an idiot.

I was nearly perfect this week. I told you to start Eli Manning (who dropped 32 points), Devonta Freeman (who dropped 33 points), and Willie Snead (who dropped 21 points). I also reminded you that you drafted Antonio Gates to start and not to hesitate in getting him in your lineup this week, and hopefully he rewarded your starting team with his 30 points and not your bench. My Packers defense start was the top netting fantasy defense in several formats, so that helped as well. A perfect 5-for-5 in starts.

My Latavius Murray sit was right on as he wound up getting benched, as was my Owen Daniels sit who didn’t even secure one target. The Wayniac, however, bought the stats. In the wee hours of Sunday morning, I looked at the Raiders NFL worst defense against tight ends, and dropped Gary Barnidge to roll the dice with OD against the hapless Raiders. The Wayniac went against The Wayniac, and watched a goose egg from OD (which I originally projected) while Barnidge dropped nearly 30 points.

I also went against myself in the case of Josh McCown. I told you to sit him. However, my QB situation in one league is in complete disarray. Andrew Luck is my starter and Derek Carr is my backup. Luck was ruled out and there was no way (and rightfully so) was I starting Saucy T’s sit of the week in Carr (which he was correct on as well). So I picked up Kirk Cousins, but when DeSean Jackson and Jordan Reed we declared inactive I dropped him for Jay Cutler. When Alshon Jeffery and Eddie Royal were declared inactive, I dropped Cutler and picked up the top QB available… Mr. Josh McCown. He would be the number one scoring QB on the week and lead my team to a 212-point performance, third best in league history (incidentally, yours truly is number one AND number two as well — insert pat on back here).

We all make mistakes. I usually keep mine to one, so hopefully you took the other 90% of my picks to heart and won a few games this week.

The Cowboys, Raiders, Bucs and Rams are on byes. Luck, Julio Jones and a bevy of other superstars are highly questionable. Who do you turn to this week?

UPDATED: The WN Fantasy Football Report: The Martavis Bryant Dilemma

UPDATED: Below were my thoughts from Thursday night about the exciting return of Martavis Bryant to the Pittsburgh Steelers and fantasy football. It appears that since publication, Bryant has tweaked his knee, rather badly. All signs are indicating that he will be out Monday night, staying on the suspended/injury list, so this changes the entire focus of the point below.

It does not change my perspective of a healthy Bryant in the fantasy football world. Instead of pulling the article, I will leave it posted in the archives. Just PLEASE keep in mind that I no longer recommend waiting until Monday night to see if Bryant pulls off some miraculous recovery, and he should ride the pine this week.

From Thursday night:

A question was recently posed to me, so I thought I would address it in an open forum just in case any of my fellow Wayniacs are pondering what do do this Sunday.

That question:

Wayniac, do I start Martavis Bryant this week even with Mike Vick under center?

What do you do with Bryant’s return?
