Top 3 names that could crack the Top 10 in the MLB Draft

Thus far, the Today’s Knuckleball MLB Draft profiles have taken a look at ten players projected to go inside the top ten, as well as one wild card in the Florida Gators Buddy Reed.

But what about those names right on the cusp? What about those guys that people murmured about in February but had huge springs and are now in the top-ten conversation?

Here are three names to keep an eye on as Thursday’s MLB Draft quickly approaches.

Read on for three names to watch closely in the MLB Draft!

The New York Yankees Miguel Andujar is flying under the radar

I have said it before, but it’s worth repeating. Growing up a New York Yankees fan, I have been duped by the Baby Bombers prospect hype machine too many times. That’s not to say I don’t believe Luis Severino won’t bounce back, nor does it mean that I don’t believe that Aaron Judge will be the starting right fielder soon (even though I stand pat in what I said last month in that he is not ready for his promotion).

MLB Draft Profile: Florida’s Buddy Reed, an interesting prospect

There is arguably no more intriguing prospect in the 2016 MLB Draft than Florida’s Buddy Reed. While it is difficult to project this year’s top-ten and even top overall pick, it is seemingly even harder to figure out where Reed will go. There hasn’t been a prospect like Reed on this year’s draft board. He is a prospect that could go as early as the top-15 or as late as the middle of the second round.

Where oh where will Arian Foster land?

There is no hiding my affection for Arian Foster. He is the greatest running back in the history of my favorite football team. It was sad to see him go, but I also thought it was the right thing the Houston Texans had to do.

A few months back, Foster had a preliminary visit with the Miami Dolphins. Admittedly, Foster himself said that he is still a month away from being ready for football action, and thus he left Miami without a contract.

So where will Arian Foster land?

RIP Cassius: sports greatest trash talker

I was born in 1975. By the time I was old enough to understand the greatness of Cassius Marcellus Clay, he was more of a pop culture icon than a fighter, wrapping up his illustrious career with the Drama in the Bahamas and a loss to Trevor Berbick.

I certainly knew who Muhammad Ali was, however. Everybody did. He’s probably the biggest pop culture legend of his time. And yesterday, the 74-year old Greatest passed away.

The NFL QB offseason circus

There has seemingly been a lot of talk about quarterbacks this offseason, hasn’t there? Over the past few weeks, I haven’t been innocent of ignoring the quarterback circus myself. First I looked at what many are deeming the worst move of the offseason — I’m looking at you Pro Football Focus — and the Houston Texans signing of Brock Osweiler. Then I took a look at the RGIII signing in Cleveland, and the ensuing QB Carousel that somehow made Mark Sanchez the starting quarterback of the defending World Champions. Last week, I dissected the fact that we are now in a day where we don’t know who the best QB in the land is, so I asked the all important question: Who is the NFL’s best quarterback?

This week a few other quarterbacks are popping up in the headlines, so I may as well continue with the offseason trend, right?

MLB Draft Profile: New York’s finest Ian Anderson

While teams in the top-five are trying to figure out if Jason Groome or Riley Pint will be the first high school arm off the board, there’s a few high schoolers who will be content going in the next wave. One of those arms happens to be the best high school athlete that New York has to offer in this year’s MLB Draft.

The end of an era: Augie Garrido steps down

I know, I’m a few days late on the Augie Garrido decision. While most college baseball fanatics were watching the selection show on Monday — and then inevitably complaining about which bracket they wound up in — I was covering the DIII Baseball Championships. It was pretty fun baseball, considering the basic lack of pitching and the ensuing superb defensive plays and tremendously big bats. Hey, I could have been stuck watching the Braves, right?

Had it not rained for seemingly five hours every day of the tournament, it would have been even better. Still it was good baseball. Check out my live blog for NCAA.com to get see some of the sites and sounds.

Anyway, what’s really important is that the NCAA, not just college baseball, saw one of its legends hang it up this weekend. And I feel like it came without a lot of well-deserved fanfare.

Red more on Augie Garrido.

MLB Draft Profile: Moniak or Rutherford, who’s the best high school bat?

Heading into June’s MLB Draft, many see the collegiate bat of Kyle Lewis as the most major league ready offensive weapon in the draft class. Most feel Nick Senzel and Corey Ray could be the next bats off the board with their success over the past three seasons, both at the NCAA level and in summer leagues. Two high school bats, however, are eerily similar, and could be the two most exciting prospects in the entire draft.

Moniak or Rutherford? Keep reading to find out who!
