Welcome back folks. As we move on to week 5 of the NFL season, we start getting more information and a clearer picture as to who is going to do what and against who. We also see that injuries are taking their toll on players and guys you didn’t know the names of at the beginning of the season are becoming your go to guys.
Week 5 on FanDuel has become extremely tight with pricing. The value plays are way fewer this week which means, we’re going to have to get creative if you’re going to be playing in GPP’s. Cash games may become more chalky but if you can diversify your lineup correctly, you can come out on top.
On to the Week 5 plays:
CASH:
QBs
BRADY ($8700) – Look, he’s been waiting for this for 4 weeks and Belicheck was pissed last week. Even though they could end up running more than one might think, I believe they’ll just pour it on with no holds barred. It’s Brady and then everyone else this week.
Roethlisberger ($8600) – If you want to go a different route at a similar price, Big Ben’s your guy. The Steelers are going against the Jets who have a great run D. But that’s it. If the Steelers have to throw the ball all day long they will and I can see Big Ben putting it in the air even 40 times. Tons of volume and tons of opportunity.
Brian Hoyer ($6000) – Hoyer has quietly been very good and this week he has the horrendous Indy D. If the Colts offense plays better and keeps this one close, there could be some very high upside for Hoyer, but if his floor is anything like the last 2 weeks, you could find yourself in a great position.
RBs – Here’s where it’s going to start to get tough. There’s quite a few guys I have my eye on.
Jordan Howard ($7200) – He’s the guy right now in Chicago playing a ton of snaps and getting a ton of chances. Similar to Hoyer above
CJ Anderson ($8000) – I just think this is a great spot for him at home vs a suspect ATL D.
Melvin Gordon ($7700) – Listen, I hate Gordon just as much as the next guy, but he continues to put up points and SD has OAK, which could put him in a great spot.
I’m lumping these guys together, because really you could choose any one of them:
McKinnon ($6200), Riddick ($6200), Terrance West ($6400).
And if you really want to get saucy, you could definitely go with either Bilal Powell ($5100) or DeAndre Washington ($4700).
WRs – same with WR’s as there a handful of guys that could meet expectations.
Antonio Brown ($9400) – nothing to say here.
Jarvis Landry ($7500) – He gets double digit targets in every game this season and has caught at least 6 balls in every game. If there’s a guy who is safer, I don’t know who it is…..actually Brown could be.
Quincy Enunwa ($6200) – No Decker and he’s a legit guy. Marshall ($7600) is going to get a lot of looks as well so he could be a play also vs the PIT D that’s no stranger to giving up points to WR’s.
Julian Edelman ($7000) – See Brady, Tom.
There are so many pivot plays as well. You could get Jordan Mathews in your lineup at $7000. I like the Eagles this week coming off the bye. You could go with either SD Charger WR or even any of the other high priced guys. Love both Jordy Nelson ($8400) and Beckham ($8500) this week, although Jordy a little more. And let’s not forget about Raiders. Both Crabtree ($6900) and Cooper ($7200) are solid plays.
TEs
Ertz ($5600)
Barnidge ($5700)
Hunter Henry ($5400)
Ks
Crosby ($4500)
Defs
MIN ($4800)
NE ($4800)
LA ($4700)
TOURNEY PLAYS – it doesn’t always work out like this, but it just so happens I like most of my cash plays in Tournies as well this week at basically every position. I wouldn’t suggest this even most of the time, but with pricing as tight as it is, differentiating yourself at QB and/or WR might be the play with a stack or double stack.
QBs
Any Cash plus Rodgers (stack with Jordy), Luck (stack with TY), Rivers (stack with any receiver though I like Williams), Eli (stack with Beckham), David Carr (stack with either Cooper or Crabtree)
RBs
Any Cash plus James White, Demarco Murray
WRs
Any Cash plus TY Hilton, AJ Green, Sammie Coates, And my SLEEPER extraordinaire this week, CAMERON MEREDITH. Hoyer has to throw it to someone and with the Colts this game could very well be high scoring.
TEs
Same as Cash, but I love the sneaky play of Will Tye. Donnell is out with concussion and the Giants are going to have to throw the ball.
Ks
Crosby
Defs
PIT, MIA, MIN, NE
GOOD LUCK IN WEEK 5!!!
